UKRI has launched two new funding competitions focused on underground hydrogen storage, as part of its £28 million Ultra-Long Duration Energy Storage Challenge.

The competitions support both technology testing and validation and the development of commercially credible, investment-ready demonstrator projects, creating opportunities for organisations working across hydrogen, engineering, materials, infrastructure, research and commercialisation.

With a briefing taking place on 28 October and follow-up surgeries in early November, organisations interested in applying can also use Innovate UK Business Connect’s partnering platform to identify potential collaborators and support consortium building.

We’d encourage organisations across the East Midlands hydrogen ecosystem to take a look and consider whether the opportunities could support their projects or partnerships.
